christmas: gifting fragrance
Fragrance Direct Fragrance Direct Fragrance Direct
CHLOÉ signature eau de parfum and BOSS bottled tonic eau de toilette*

It's time guys, it's nearly Christmas and time to be inundated with gift guides! I'm particularly unbothered by the festive season this year, which is extremely unlike me but alas I do have people that I need to buy for. Cue Fragrance Direct getting in touch re:their gift edit and of course I jumped at the chance to work on the project - who doesn't like a new fragrance to try and it's potentially the perfect gift for everyone, ever.

I am hard to please when it comes to a new scent, so I rarely choose one without testing it or knowing someone that wears it. That being said, a lot of the fragrance's in FD's gift edit are classics and you'll no doubt know someone who wore it, or it'll be nostalgic for another reason and therefore a great present idea. I'm thinking to pop Marc Jacobs' Daisy on my Christmas list too as it's so timeless.

I decided to pick up Chloe's signature scent as a gift for myself as I remembered my Mum wearing it when I was little, plus the bottle and box are beautiful. It's really feminine and floral, and a very nice addition to my fragrance collection.

Gifting myself aside, I decided that a new scent would be a great gift for my Dad this year. He's been away for the past seven years so I've not had to buy him a Christmas present so I'm a bit out of practice! That and he's so not your typical socks/tie Dad. He's a cool Dad (hi, I know you'll be reading). I know that he's a fan of Boss fragrance in general so I opted for the Bottled Tonic as the sound of citrus notes sold me. It genuinely smells lovely, I'm not going to try and explain it because that'll be hilarious but either way - it's fresh and manly. Two things you probably want in a men's fragrance.

Essentially, and sorry if you're reading family, but they're all going to be getting fragrance this year. I've always been a bit of a sceptic re:buying scent as it's such a personal thing but with how descriptive the information on the site is, as well as the fact some are just so classic, you can't go wrong. Plus, it's nice to try something new once in a while!
Post in collaboration with Fragrance Direct, but fragrance love and picks are all mine!

URBAN OUTFITTERS dress*, ASOS coat, TOPSHOP boots, FOREVER 21 bag

This was going to be a festive outfit, but the wind and cold had other ideas so now it's just a Merry Christmas to you all.
I hope you have a fabulous Christmas, or just some time off if you don't celebrate and eat a hell of a lot of food.

AESOP set, DIPTYQUE candle, KIEHLS ultra facial cream, SAINT LAURENT wallet, COMME DES GARÇONS pouch, KINFOLK book & NARS lipstick

Christmas was so last year - I know, but seeing as I got some really lovely things I thought I'd still share them. James got me some really fab bits including the Aésop set and my beautiful new Saint Laurent wallet while my Mumma got me the Comme Des Garçons pouch, albeit with a little help from James - I'm sure! James' sister, Mollie got me a NARS lipstick and the baby Diptyque candle - which I might actually burn this year as I've still got last Christmas' one brand new!

It was so lovely to not be working over Christmas this year, so lets give it up for the retail workers of the world! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Also worth mentioning, this isn't to show off or w/e but just for anyone who's nosey like me.

making christmas wreaths w/grace & thorn

I attended a blogger/all round creatives event organised by Jessica at Grace and Thorn on Monday evening, where we got to make some Christmas wreaths, drink prosecco and chat to some absolute huns.
I'm fairly proud of the outcome and literally had the time of my life (anything crafty and I'm sold) so I thought I'd share the tips we were given when making ours and a few photos of their amazing shop.
Without further ado:

What to use:
The lovely lady at Grace & Thorn told us about their signature style which is full of wild foliage, lots of greenery and typically 'different' items such as dried fruit, lavender and cinnamon sticks. Have a little root around in your garden and snip any long stems of leafy greens, use any berries you might find and try drying some fruit at home. The dried oranges smell amazing!
They recommend using a wicker base too, as it'll be more sturdy than oasis. Try to avoid flowers as the wreath will die quickly as obviously there's no water supply. Moss and Christmas tree cuttings naturally work as a great starting point.

How to:
Build your wreath up like a clock, following in one direction around the ring and then secure with wire. Use open florist pins to secure other foliage and decorations in place, and make sure you hide the stems by putting them underneath the base layer. Keep adding until you're happy, I literally had to walk away from mine in fear of over-adding!

Finishing off:
Finish the wreath by making sure all your pins are hidden and then add a brightly coloured ribbon for a modern take. Grace & Thorn tend to avoid using obvious Christmas colours, and it's totally worth it when you see the bits they come up with.

I thought I'd combine a few things I learnt with the pictures, in case you fancied making your own. It's so therapeutic and lovely to see something you made yourself up in your home. Bonus points if you give a handmade gift for Christmas too!

christmas prep & wishlist
As I mentioned in a post, I'm doing one big Christmas post this year. I normally try (and fail) to do some kind of gift-guide but seeing as the competition is beyond fierce this year (uh, Liv and Kate killed it) I thought I'd do a little home-decorating-inspiration/my-wishlist kind of thing.
So grab a cup of tea and get comfy:

The decorating inspo:
all images sourced from Pinterest

I've got to give it up here and say I definitely don't have the house for this kind of tree/foliage situation (rented flat in Clapham doesn't really cut it) but if I did, this is what it'd probably look like. I'm going to take inspiration from the tree cutting in a vase idea, as I always insist on getting a tree despite not spending Christmas day at home. I'm definitely one for a few bunches of mistletoe too. All of this is making me want my own house even more, sigh.

The wishlist:
No Christmas post would be complete without popping in some unnecessary things I'd really like, plus James asked me to write a list so hey babe! As I've mentioned a million times, I'm really trying to skim my wardrobe down to nicer (read: expensive) things that will last me longer so that was the theme behind this. The nice skincare, and cute travel mug are those things that you always want but can't justify buying yourself... Kind of like another designer handbag really.
Christmas 2015
a.p.c half moon bags, zara jacket, olympus lens, kiehls moisturiser, chloe pursecomme des garçons pouch, acne pin, acne boots, saint laurent purse, white converse, aesop hand cream & cleanser, whistles t-shirt, & other stories body moisturiser & anthropologie travel mug

Also, note this is a wishlist, not what I'm likely to get! And I definitely don't want two of the same bag, I just couldn't decide which colour I liked more!

last minute gift ideas

So, if (unlike me, obviously) you've left your Christmas shopping to last minute, I've gathered together some of my favourite things/things I'd love to receive to make a miniature gift idea post.
So, fess up, who's not done theirs yet?

p.s. I may not see you until the New Year, as I'm having a few life issues at the mo. You know the drill. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas and a fab New Years if I'm not back in time to wish you all well! xxxxx

*some items were previously gifted!

my christmas list

So I've not done anything festive/anything much at all for the last few weeks as I've been suffering with bad migraines as well as trying to get this terms uni project finished. I thought I'd pop a little bit of Christmas spirit up on here with a wishlist! I'm going to try and get a few outfit posts up, as well as some partywear and gift idea posts up, the usual - although I can't promise anything!
It's not a very aesthetically pleasing wishlist, but it's stuff that I'd really like that I can't warrant buying myself as I don't need, although I must admit I really struggled with compiling some kind of list, I don't know whats wrong with me - I never don't want anything! I try and treat Christmas as an excuse for luxuries I don't need, rather than asking for clothes I will likely wear twice and then put on Depop...
Anyway! What are you lusting after this Christmas?

if i was a rich girl...
if i was a rich girl

Nanananaaa (Gwen Stefani, duh). I've had a few family dramas of late, which explains the lack of outfit posts and seeing as retail therapy really does work, here's my "If I Was a Rich Girl" shopping list, or if James was a rich boyfriend Christmas list; depending on how you look at it.
There's a few bits on here that I'm probbbbably going to buy myself (MAC palette, topshop top, foundation and bracelet I'm looking at you). I can still dream about floating around in the HoH dress, with my Lily over my shoulder and Scully's on my feet though, can't I? Sob
Have a good week!
